Owen/Cox Dance Group is a contemporary dance company located in Kansas City, Missouri. The company is committed to creating new music and dance collaborations, presenting high-quality contemporary dance performances with live music, and engaging as wide an audience as possible through affordable live performances and education and outreach programs. 

Since its debut performance in 2007 the company’s accomplishments include:

• Two world premieres commissioned by the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
• Collaborations with artists Peregrine Honig, Peggy Noland, Mark Southerland, and NEA Fellow Nate Fors
• Participation in annual events Spring to Dance Festival, Modern Night at the Folly, Dance in the Park, New Dance Partners, and Festival on the Vine
• Take the Stage, an educational initiative bringing music and dance to fourth graders in the Kansas City area
• Creative partnerships with newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, Charlotte Street Foundation, The People's Liberation Big Band, YWCA of Greater Kansas City, Bach Aria Soloists, Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, Kansas City Public Library, Mattie Rhodes Center, Northeast Community Center, Paul Mesner Puppets, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts, Gilda's Club Kansas City, Ensemble Ibérica and more.

• Serving as fiscal sponsor for Moving Arts
• Receiving the Pitch Weekly 2012 Artopia Award
• Selected as a 2014-2015 participant in performARTS
• 2020 U.S. State Department Diplomacy Tour to Ukraine

Owen/Cox Dance Group is a contemporary dance company based in Kansas City, Missouri. The company is committed to creating new music and dance collaborations, presenting high-quality contemporary dance performances with live music, and engaging as wide an audience as possible through affordable live performances and education and outreach programs.

​The company, founded by choreographer Jennifer Owen and composer Brad Cox, is widely recognized for its engaging and thought-provoking artistic collaborations. From the group’s whimsical modern jazz rendition of “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” to meditations on mortality in the Helen Gillet collaboration “Skin,” the ensemble consistently produces fresh and vibrant new works that are classical in form, but contemporary in expression.
